Faculty Writing Retreat

Faculty in the IBM-HBCU Quantum Center are invited to apply for a 3-day Intensive Writing Retreat in Alexandria, Virginia from January 29 - February 1, 2025. This opportunity is ideal for faculty who have QISE project ideas and are seeking 1:1 and small group support toward submission of a competitive funding proposal to the National Science Foundation or another federal research funding agency next year (2025-2026). Priority will be given to grant funding proposals, however, applications to complete publications in QISE will also be considered.

This opportunity is ideal for research faculty who:

• Have started to draft ideas and are in the early stages of preparing a proposal
• Have received a declination or other non-award decision from a previous grant submission and are considering your next steps toward resubmission.
• Have established partnerships for pursuit of a collaborative project.
• Are planning to submit a grant proposal due during the 2025-26 academic year.

Writing coach services available

The retreat will provide dedicated writing time to enhance your focus, and productivity toward completion of research writing in QISE. Participants will be paired with a writing coach and have 1 or 2 meetings before the retreat begins, to articulate and refine what the writer will accomplish during the retreat. Some follow-up with writing coaches will be available after the retreat as well.

Time for writing and networking

There will be plenty of time and space for quiet writing. There will also be designated time for networking with other research faculty in QISE at HBCUs and brief panel discussions to learn about trending opportunities in QISE research.
